Empowered Recovery Center is a short drive outside of Atlanta, GA. To get to our rehab facility from downtown Atlanta, follow these directions:

1. Start by getting on I-75 N/I-85 N and continue on I-75 N for about 19.4 miles.

2. Take exit 267A toward GA-5 N/Canton Rd and follow Canton Rd Conn NE for about 1.2 miles.

3. Merge onto Canton Rd and pass by Wendy’s on the left. Continue for another 2.9 miles.

4. Turn left, and our facility will be on your left.

Our drug and alcohol rehab in Atlanta is in-network with both Anthem BCBS and Tricare, but we can also work with a number of out-of-network plans. Cigna, Aetna, Magellan Health, ComPsych, GEHA, and UMR are all plans that we work with at our treatment center. If you don’t see your plan listed, we still encourage you to call us to verify your benefits to find out if we can work with your specific plan!

No, at Empowered Recovery Center we are not in-network with any Medicaid or Medicare plans in Georgia.

Yes, at our substance abuse facility we are equipped to treat patients with co-occurring mental health disorders. 

Many people with mental health conditions also have substance abuse disorders (SUDs). For some people, using drugs or alcohol can numb the pain of their mental health disorder. But for others, using drugs or alcohol can make their mental health condition worse. This is called a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder.

Examples of co-occurring mental disorders include:

Yes, at Empowered Recovery Center in Atlanta we allow patients to keep their phones on them. We ask that during treatment sessions though, patients stay off their phones and engaged in treatment to best help their individual recovery.

No, at Empowered Recovery Center we don’t force anyone into treatment who isn’t willing. Treatment is most successful when patients want to get sober to improve their own lives. While we can’t force someone into treatment, we can work with family members to help the patient understand their options for recovery at our addiction rehab facility in Atlanta.

Yes, at our drug and alcohol rehab in Atlanta we require regular testing for both drugs and alcohol. Regular testing for substances is essential for both accountability and safety during treatment.

While Empowered Recovery Center doesn’t directly provide sober housing to patients, we partner with a number of sober housing facilities in the Atlanta area that can provide housing. 

If you are hesitant about treatment because you don’t have a stable living situation, contact our rehab admissions team and we can provide some options for sober housing.

At our addiction treatment center in Atlanta we typically recommend patients stay in treatment for a minimum of 90 days (3 months) for the best treatment outcomes. About 50% of relapses occur within the first 12 weeks of sobriety which is why we recommend 90 days as the minimum for long term sobriety and stability. 

While we recommend patients stay in treatment at least 90 days, many of our patients willingly stay up to 6 months.

The exact timeline in which a patient may see improvements in their physical and mental conditions will vary depending on a variety of factors. A patient’s age, sex, mental and physical health as well as the substances they used, how long, how potent, and more can affect their recovery and how they feel during treatment. 

Many patients may find the first few weeks of treatment the most difficult, especially if they are still experiencing any lingering withdrawal symptoms after detox. Depending on the substance they use, patients may qualify for medication assisted treatment (MAT) which provides ongoing medication support to help reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings. People with post acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS), or protracted withdrawal, may experience withdrawal symptoms up to 18 months. 

In some cases patients may experience pink clouding, where they almost feel euphoric or overconfident about their new life in sobriety after withdrawal, but then this experience comes to a halt and they feel worse when reality sets in. This idea may be referred to as a “honeymoon stage” in recovery.

At Empowered Recovery Center we offer various group treatment settings including support groups, various group therapies, skills workshops/skills building groups, and more. Some patients might prefer more open groups like process groups, where others might prefer more structured groups like psychoeducational groups. We utilize a variety of types of groups so patients get a well-rounded treatment experience. 

Our therapy groups are confidential, supportive, educational, and most importantly, communal. It’s important to remember that your experience in a group varies based on your level of vulnerability, openness, and willingness to participate.

Patients can expect to meet with their therapist for an individual therapy session once per week. If patients have needs in-between sessions, this can sometimes be accommodated as well. 

For therapist-led group sessions, patients can expect to participate 1 to 6 days a week. The exact amount of group therapy sessions they participate in depends on the individual patient’s program and schedule. For example, a patient in our PHP may participate in 5-6 sessions each week, while someone in our lowest tier outpatient program may only participate in 1-2 sessions.

Family can play a vital role in helping patients overcome their substance use disorder which is why we offer family therapy as well as support groups for family members of someone struggling with addiction. Keeping family members involved in treatment can improve treatment outcomes and help family members understand how they may enable behaviors that lead to substance use or identify signs of relapse in their loved ones.
